The Team

From OpenCog

The OpenCog Project operates as a virtual "OpenCog AI Lab". Nearly all communication and collaboration uses publicly accessible facilities (code hosting, email lists, IRC, etc.); face-to-face meetings and tele-conferences are used as necessary.

Discussion has information about various blogs, feeds, mailing lists and other ways we keep up to speed on what each contributor is working on.

OpenCog is led by Dr. Ben Goertzel, who is Director of Research at the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence, and CEO of Novamente LLC and Biomind LLC.

Ben is joined in management of the OpenCog project by David Hart, Director of Open-Source Projects at the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence (SIAI). Dr. Joel Pitt was also funded by SIAI to work on OpenCog from 2008-2009, and continues to be involved as a project curator.

As much of the initial OpenCog code is being donated by Novamente LLC, the preparation of the initial OpenCog release is being assisted by a number of individuals within Novamente LLC, including Andre Senna, Welter Silva, Cassio Pennachin, Linas Vepstas, and Nil Geisweiller.

We've also been fortunate, and are very thankful to Google, to be part of the Google Summer of Code for the last two years. Our students have made original contributions to AI research as well as extended the OpenCog framework to assist the research of others.
