Map Formation

The process of identifying Atoms that have often been useful at the same time (or, more generally, whose usefulness has generally been interconnected by some recognizable dynamic pattern, which may be a more complex one), and grouping them into a single Concept (ConceptNode) for future explicit utilization.

In most cases this process should be carried out by a lightweight Greedy Stochastic Pattern Mining approach, though in some cases a more expensive approach could be justified.

Philosophical Significance

While a simple process algorithmically, map formation is deep and important from a philosophy of mind and cognitive science perspective.

It represents a fundamental recursion wherein the Mind recognizes Patterns in itself and then embodies these patterns concretely within itself.

This recursion has been referred to as "The Cognitive Equation".
